Long Afternoon

March 4, 2019

slice-of-life_individual

I pace around the room.

Check email at my computer desk.  Shift to the kitchen for a snack.  Read a few pages of my book club book.  Check Facebook. Wander into the bedroom.  Interrupt my husband working on his car outside.

A weekend full of binge reading has left me wanting to move, leave the house, accomplish some project.

But I’ve been on a walk, have no errands that need running, no projects I want to take on.

And so I prowl, up and down the stairs, from room to room, caged in by the surprise of too much leisure time.

  1. I have felt this way on certain weekends, too! Thanks for sharing this poem!

  2. All of these winter days have me feeling “caged in” too!

  3. “the surprise of too much leisure time”–This post captures it so beautifully.
